Based on scientific merit, an honorary doctorate has been conferred on Dian Marie Hosking by the Turku School of Economics. The degree certificate reads: "In recognition of her co-operation with TSE and outstanding merits in renewing leadership theory. As early as late 70’s Hosking questioned the fit of the modern leadership paradigm created in the industrial organizations for explaining leadership in knowledge based virtual organizations of the information society. Hosking has published widely in top-journals and brought leadership thinking to the 21st century by introducing social-constructionist approach to studying power relations and leadership in organizations."
